VA Loans in Massachusetts
Massachusetts uses a series of numbered exemption "clauses" for veterans, with larger benefits as service-connected disability ratings rise. The federal VA loan benefit is the same in every state: eligible buyers can buy with no down payment and competitive rates.
Massachusetts benefits for veterans
Property tax relief for veterans
The basic veteran exemption reduces the property tax bill for veterans with a service-connected disability, Purple Heart recipients and Gold Star parents. Larger exemptions apply as the disability rating increases.
Veterans who are paraplegic or who have total service-connected blindness may qualify for a full exemption on their home.
Residency and occupancy rules apply, and many cities and towns have adopted local options that increase these amounts.
How to apply: Apply with the board of assessors in the city or town where the home is located.
